Sam Gould

As a life-long active member of the Jewish community, Sam Gould understood the importance of creating a Jewish legacy to ensure vibrant Jewish life in Kansas City for future generations. He worked with Foundation staff to create endowment funds to support the institutions he held dear. He created the Lucy and Sam Gould Charitable Fund for the Jewish Community Center to provide a perpetual stream of income for the J, an organization he considered a ‘home away from home’ throughout his life. The Lucy and Sam Gould Charitable Fund for Kehilath Israel Synagogue was established to support the congregation of which he was a member, lifetime board member and past president. In making planned giving arrangements, Gould said, “I thought that it would be well that I consider the synagogue and the Center because I get so much out of that. I feel that there will have been something that I have left that will have some benefit to these agencies.” In addition to providing a stable financial future for the institutions he loved, Gould also made arrangements to provide safety-net services for individuals and families in times of need. The Sam and Lucy Gould Gesher Fund is an endowment fund which offers one-time emergency financial assistance for members of the Kansas City Jewish community.
