Marcia (Dorfman) Herman and Charles Dorfman
“Since the day our sister Linda was born with severe brain damage, our mother, Dorothy, devoted her life to helping children with developmental disabilities. Upon Mom’s death, our father, Allan, asked us to help him find a way to memorialize her efforts. Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is the most impressive organization of professionals that devote their careers to providing loving care and education for these special children, even as they grow to adults. We approached this wonderful organization for suggestions to continue and remember our mother’s work. And, after several possibilities, they mentioned funding their annual client picnic. For us, the choice was obvious. Our mother, Dorothy Dorfman, was the hostess of the century; she loved a party! Nothing would have made her happier than seeing the clients, their parents and the staff enjoying themselves at a Fun Fest picnic! The Jewish Community Foundation has been the perfect financial partner to manage and disburse the funds. Thank you JCF for 15 years of noble and valued assistance.”
